nextA Conversation with Marcel MarceauTurns out he is something of a windbag. Tom gets trapped in a glass elevator with him and he won't shut up. Marceau says "Here, I give you an example. Take the Seven Deadly Sins. You have anger, lust, pride, how do you call it, eating too much?" Tom says "uh, uh, um, uh overeating, uh gourmet, I mean gluttony…" Marceau says "Yes, exactly, but why isn't lying one of the Seven Deadly Sins?" Tom says "Um, uh,, um lying isn't as bad a sin as, no, there's no reason why lying isn't one of the Seven Deadly Sins…" Marceau says "Lying isn't one of the Seven Deadly Sins because everyone lies!" And the glass elevator gets moving again, up, up, and Tom starts jumping around in it, wondering if it's going to explode through the ceiling of the building and take him and Marcel Marceau on a magical journey into the upper reaches of the universe, but he hopes not, he just wants to go home where it's quiet next |
